A player shouldn’t concern themselves too much but compensating may mean changes in their city. But there are either a low number and a high number awarded – you will get awarded the lowest amount most of the time and get the highest amount of coins or supplies less often. What I find most discouraging, and other players too, is the fact that when the random rewards of coins and supplies are awarded, these seem to be just a pittance. The exceptions are the RQs requesting military units that requires the same amount most of the time but always current age, and the ‘Double Research’ RQ which doesn’t change at all. Most, if not all the quests you are seeing will reappear, or recur, in every age you enter with increases in amounts required to complete it. So you have to rely on GE and Battleground or event rewards to finish the RQ. In theory it’s possible to do all of them…in practice the only way to complete the RQs asking you to have military units is to make sure you don’t complete the research needed to recruit that unit class or classes. Now that you have reached RQs take a look at all of them – just cycle through them using the abort button until you’ve seen all of them. Then you can have 2 advisors offering RQs, which comes in handy. There are several RQs available in any given age and if you have 2 advisors giving side quests then once you’ve reached RQs with one, the other advisor will follow next time you complete or abort their side quest. Once you’ve done that you’ll get to recurring quests. Some of these may require completing researches you haven’t done or might otherwise slow you from getting to RQs – these are the types I usually don’t worry about completing but just abort them. To get to RQs you must either abort or complete all the side quests for your age. Notice that the side quests have an abort button and a complete button. You have 2 or 3 advisors offering Bonus, Story or Side quests, and it’s the advisor giving you side quests that we’ll be concerned with. This sacrifice is necessary to get to recurring quests. It means you might sacrifice some side quests for your current age but they’ll come back the next time you age up and, in my opinion, you aren’t usually sacrificing that much to begin with and often they aren’t easy to complete. Whether you just want to see what all the fuss is about or want to stop using costly goods buildings or you want to take it further to become really successful with RQs (Recurring Quests) then you have to give it a try. And I’ll show you how to do what I call “heavy questing” (although that term has a different definition on another blog). This article will show you how you can try recurring quests, and will show how you can use recurring quests to eliminate the need for goods buildings. In the article “ What Are Recurring Quests?” I explained what recurring quests are.
